Classes start in April; Registered Nurses can apply now
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (February, 2012) – South University is expanding its program offerings at its Montgomery campus, located at 5355 Vaughn Road, by offering a Master of Science in Nursing degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialization. Classes for the program, which is designed for Registered Nurses (RNs) who already hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, will begin in the Spring Quarter: April 7.
“Since moving to our new campus in 2002, South University has focused on adding quality programs that prepare students to compete for today’s careers,” said President Victor K. Biebighauser. “In offering the MSN program, we are building on the success of our existing undergraduate nursing program while filling a need for nurses in Alabama who want to advance their careers.”
South University’s MSN program develops and enhances the knowledge and skills of registered nurses. It blends nursing theory with advanced practice concepts that will prepare students to work within a health care organization or in an educational setting.
“Nurses who are looking for a new career path in a profession they are passionate about should consider South University’s MSN program,” said Mary K. Walker, RN, Ph.D., dean of the College of Nursing. “The Alabama State Nurses Association lists a shortage of nursing faculty and an impending shortage of hospital-based nurses as critical issues facing the state. South University’s new nursing program will help in both of these areas.”
